Northeast Typewriter Collectors' Jamboree and Typewriter Sale
Brought to you by the editors of ETCetera, the newsletter of the Early Typewriter Collectors' Association.
What is the Jamboree? It's really a mini convention that's held each year in Southborough Massachusetts. It's a time for collectors to get together to get to know one another, share stories and tips about typewriters and buy, sell, and trade machines and related collectibles. Typically there are collectors from several states and from every level of collecting, beginner to advanced.
The Jamboree begins at about 10am on Saturday, July 10th, and there will be danish and coffee/tea available. Lunch will be bar-b-que fare (hot dogs and hamburgers with salads). As in the past, if folks are around for dinner time we'll fire up the grill again! Actually, last year we ended up having a big pot of spaghetti for dinner! For the folks staying in the area before the Saturday Jamboree, we'll host a Jambalaya Fest on Thursday, July 8th, and a chicken and rib bar-b-que on Friday night, July 9th. If you'll be staying in the area and would like to stop by, please let us know so we can plan the food accordingly!
Once again, Bill and Sally Johnston will be bringing a group of machines from the IBM/Lexmark collection at special Jamboree discounts. The Lexington Historical Society and the Bluegrass Trust is the beneficiary of the machines' sale.
The Jamboree also falls at the end of the Brimfield Antiques Show which is known world-wide as the largest show of its kind! If you are able to come in a day or two early and are interested in coming to Brimfield, please let us know where you're staying and we'll make arrangements with you!
If you have any other questions or need directions, please email us at typewriter@writeme.com. If you need ideas for decent hotels in the area, check out Extended Stay America which is about 3.5 miles away (http://www.extendedstay.com). They offer small suites with full kitchens for $69 a night! Motel 6 is also nearby on Route 9 and is advertising $49 a night. Or, check your favorite online source. For anyone worried about space in the car on the way home, we have a UPS account and you can pack/ship a box or so right from here! If you're looking to carpool, send a message to chuck101@erols.com and it will be forwarded to hundreds of other collectors who may have a ride for you or be willing to share yours!
Happy Collecting and we're looking forward to meeting you,
Chuck Dilts and Rich Cincotta, co-editors, ETCetera, Journal of the Early Typewriter Collectors' Association http://typewriter.rydia.net/etcetera.htm
