Jamboree 2000

The Northeast Typewriter Collectors Jamboree on May 13th brought together collectors from 3 generations and 6 states (including California!). There were plenty of machines to see, sell and buy and we were treated with a showing of some spectacular pencil sharpeners thanks to a local collector. The weather could have been better but there was no dampening of spirits!

Back row: Conrad Chanzit, Phil Hilferty, Ed Iacona, Ed Iacona (not a typo!). 2nd row: David Proper, Rich Cincotta, Ron Ronzio. Front: Dave Iacona, Nancy & Hoby Van Deusen, Allen and Tamiko Crown, Bob Langer, Chuck Dilts. Not in picture: Jack Whelan.

Machines for sale and trade included several Smith Premiers, Yost 4, Postal 5, Armstrong, several Barlets, Barlock, Remington Standard 6, Empire, Portex, Aluminum Blick, Pittsburg Visible, several Hammonds and Olivers, American Index and many more including a good number of portables. A local couple (not collectors and not here for the picture) showed up to sell their Noiseless typewriter after reading about the Jamboree on the website. There was even a mystery guest who apparently thought it was a yard sale and came right into the yard to peruse the machines et al in the garage! He must have had a flash of "oops" as he was seen walking out of the driveway a little on the quick side. Needless to say, he wasn't here for the group picture either!

Thanks to all who attended and we look forward to seeing you all again next year!
